Rutland Plywood Co. was one of the many backbones of the Rutland community and, just before the fire, was still busy in the wood industry, employing more than 160 people, many of them working there and growing with the company over the years. They bought their homes, raised their families, gave back to the community. Rutland Plywood was an equal opportunity employer above any other company in the area. Many people started working on the floor and rose up through the ranks of the company. Some people stayed for many years and retired through the company. Many used it as a stepping stone to other employment. All and all, Rutland Plywood made a good American product by good American employees. We hope Rutland Plywood comes back to this area, stronger and better.
