Candidate cites Republican support

MONTPELIER — Dan Feliciano, the Libertarian candidate for governor, says he’s encouraged by the support he’s been picking up from Republicans.
The comment came after Darcie Johnston — who managed Republican nominee Randy Brock’s campaign in 2012 — endorsed Feliciano over the most high-profile Republican candidate, Scott Milne.
Both Feliciano and Johnston say Milne hasn’t come out strongly enough against the universal, state-funded health care system Gov. Peter Shumlin wants to create.
Republican Chairman David Sunderland cautions that there are some Libertarian positions with which most in his party would disagree, including amnesty for nonviolent drug offenders.
Feliciano says he’d likely ignore that part of the platform and focus on fighting Shumlin’s health plan and cutting costs within state government.
