Congratulations to the Vermont Senate for voting 26-2 to label all foods containing GMO ingredients. Also to Gov. Peter Shumlin for signing the bill into law.

Now we need to pressure the senators in Washington, D.C. A bill was just submitted by Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Kan., H.R. 4432, to not allow any state in the U.S. to require GMO labeling on foods, thanks to Monsantoís lobbying pressure. He has four representatives on board with him who need to hear from us. I have already called them.

    Here are their names and telephone numbers: Rep. G.K. Butterfield, D-N.C., (202) 225-3101; Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., (202) 225-2811; Rep. Jim Matheson, D-Utah, (202) 225-3011; and Rep. Ed Whitfield, R-Ky., (202) 225-3115.

We donít want their bill to nullify ours.

GMO foods have been proven dangerous. Many foreign countries wonít allow seeds or food grown from GMO seeds to be brought in.

Another aspect of these seeds is that you cannot save them to use again. They will not reproduce. Which means that we have to keep going back to seed producers to buy them.

Please call and put pressure on these people to not sponsor H.R. 4432 so that we and our children can stay healthy and well.
