WEST RUTLAND — Emily Pokrywka, 92, of West Rutland, died Thursday morning.
She was born in West Rutland on May 28, 1921, the daughter of John and Caroline (Swierczek) Glodzik.
On November 13, 1943, she was married to Anthony J. Pokrywka, who died on May 13, 2000.
She was employed at Rosenblatts Dress Factory and for 33 years at Tambrands Inc.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and the West Rutland American Legion Auxiliary.
She was interviewed for her Polish recipes with an article written in the 2012 “SAVEUR, World of Authentic Cuisine Magazine.”
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, the ocean and traveling.
Surviving are a daughter Carolyn Wos and her husband John of West Rutland, a brother John Godzik and his wife Loretta of West Rutland; two grandchildren Matthew Muro and Melissa Quinlan and her husband Marc of Latham, NY; two great grandchildren Josie Emily Muro and Bauer Quinlan, nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her husband and by nine siblings, Fr. Joseph, Thomas, Theodore, Edward and Walter Glodzik, Mary Bys, Felicia Taran, Genevieve Pokrywka and Florence Pomykato
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2014, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.
Visiting hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Mullin-Clifford Funeral Home in West Rutland.
