RUTLAND TOWN — Edwin K. “Eddie” Lewis, 77, of Rutland Town, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his family after a long illness with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
He was born in Daytona Beach, Fla., Dec. 9, 1936, the son of Edwin and Gertrude (Whitney) Lewis.
Edwin was a graduate of Brandon High School class of 1954.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the U.S. Army Reserves.
On June 23, 1962, he married Sheila (Cain) Lewis.
Mr. Lewis was employed at Howe Richardson Scale Co in Rutland for 15 years and retired after 25 years in 1999 from Omya Inc, in Florence.
He enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, photography, camping, family gatherings, coin and stamp collecting.
He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Church for 20 years, St. Robert’s Church and St. Alphonsus Church for the remaining years.
Surviving are his wife, Sheila, of Rutland Town, one daughter, Kathleen Gecha, and her husband, Michael, of Florence, two sons: Jeffrey Lewis of Rutland and his former wife, Tara; and Scott Lewis and his wife, Heather, of Wake Forest, N.C.; four grandchildren Joshua Gecha, Jeta Lewis, Gabrielle Lewis and Danielle Lewis; two step-grandchildren Sara & Kevin Gecha, a sister, Lynne Shea, and her husband, Larry, of Callan, Colorado.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, at St. Alphonsus Church in Pittsford. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael Ramos, pastor.
Burial will follow in Cheney Hill Cemetery.
A reception will follow the burial service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
