MONKTON — Vermont State Police say a pair of teens on a vandalism spree toppled historic grave markers and a flagpole at a Monkton cemetery.

Two juveniles are slated to appear in juvenile court June 10 on charges of unlawful mischief.

Law enforcement officials said that 10 gravestones — including one on the grave of War of 1812 veteran — were toppled Friday at the Boro Cemetery in Monkton.

    One juvenile was arrested Friday.

The second juvenile was arrested Saturday.

Town officials peg the dollar value of the vandalism at about $800.

Police say the pair also broke in half a flagpole at the cemetery — leaving an American flag lying on the ground.
