Jeffery Cassarino is stepping down as the Mount Saint Joseph Academy head coach for men's football and basketball to pursue other interests. He has served as the head football coach for three years, and the head basketball coach for two years.
"MSJ thanks Coach Cassarino for his years of dedicated service wearing so many hats at the Mount," said Andrew Costello, Chair of the MSJ Advisory Board, in a statement. "He has given his all to MSJ."
The school intends to build in the future on the programs that coach Cassarino has nurtured. During his tenure at MSJ, the coach built the numbers back up in the Mount's storied football program, and the basketball team went to two straight Division II quarterfinal appearances.
The coach said of those in the community who have supported MSJ athletics during his tenure, "I want to thank you for your support, and I hope for continued success for MSJ."
Cassarino will continue to work with the MSJ students on strength and conditioning through the end of the year, while MSJ begins a search for the coaches who will lead the programs going forward.
