    BENNINGTON — Harold M. “Sonny” Levin, 82, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

    He was born April 16, 1931, in Manchester, the son of Reuben Levin and Lula (Hughes) Levin.

    He received his education in Bennington schools.

    He later served in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years.

    He married Rhonda Lother in Bennington on Nov. 26, 1983.

    He was employed at the Pennysaver Press in Bennington for 16 years, and then worked for the Bennington Banner, retiring after 10 years of employment.

    He was a member of Mount Anthony Lodge, F&AM in Bennington, and also a member of Cairo Shrine in Rutland.

    He enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh.

    Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Levin of Bennington; a son, Dan Levin of Portland, Ore.; a daughter, Vicki Levin of Bennington; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Natalie Rallis and Thyra Bushee, both of Bennington and a brother, Lew Levin of Shaftsbury; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Bruce Turner and by two sisters and a brother, Priscilla Gray, Corrinne Richard and Bruce Levin.

    Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, from Mahar & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard McSherry officiating.

    Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Saturday, until the time of the service.

    Private committal services will take place at the convenience of the family at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital in Springfield, Mass., through the office of Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
