On the editorial page of the Herald, Feb. 28, the editor rightfully points out that there must be transparency in any investigation of the Vermont Department for Children and Families. It has been suggested that there will be internal investigations by the department and the Agency of Human Resources, as well as an external investigation by a committee of legislators and appointed citizens.
This all smacks of the fox guarding the henhouse. Let’s remove all connections with the governmental structure in Montpelier, hire an investigative agency from out-of-state and equip them with court-ordered access to all persons and documents involved.
Maybe then there will be transparency.
