    Marjorie Ann McLaughlin, 86, of Rutland, died peacefully Tuesday, February 17, 2014, at Fletcher Allen Medical Center, Palliative Care Unit, surrounded by loved ones.

    She was born in Rutland, June 13, 1927, the daughter of Michael and Helen (Cannon) McLaughlin.

    Marjorie was a 1945 graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy. She attended the College of St. Rose in Troy, N.Y., and graduated from Trinity College in Burlington.

    Marjorie was employed by New England Telephone for more than 30 years.

    Marjorie was a devout Catholic, her faith and her rosary guided her throughout her life. She had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. She loved animals.

    She enjoyed sharing her life with her sister, Helen, and Helen’s daughters, Karen Senentilli of Austin, TX, Karlene Marro of Rutland, and Krista Massimo of Vergennes.

    She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Francis McLaughlin, by her sister, Helen Foy and a nephew, Michael McLaughlin.

    Survivors include six nieces and a nephew, great and great-great nieces and nephews.

    There are no visiting hours.

    Burial will be held at a later date in Calvary Cemetery.

    A prayer service for Marjorie’s family will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 22, at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland. Officiating will be the Rev. Justin Baker, pastor of Christ the King Church.
