    Lois E. Wortman

    Lois E. (Witham) Wortman, 87, died Sunday, January 26, 2014, surrounded by her family at Mountain View Genesis in Rutland, after a long illness.

    She was born December 5, 1926, in West Rutland, and attended West Rutland schools.

    She was married to Clayton J. Wortman on September 28, 1946. He predeceased her December 11, 2004, after 58 years of marriage.

    She was employed at GE for many years.

    Lois enjoyed playing bingo and family gatherings.

    She was a member of United Church of West Rutland, where she sang in the choir.

    Survivors include three children: C. James Wortman and his wife, Judy; Linda Hickory and her husband, Robert, all of West Rutland; and Carroll Wortman and his wife, Claudia of Arizona City, AZ; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two sisters, Alta Johnson of Ira and Josephine Clifford of West Yarmouth, Mass.

    Beside her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Adelbert, Edwin and Arthur Witham; and four sisters, Edith Priest, Althea Tiraboschi, Leah Romeo and Myrtha Brown.

    Visiting hours will be held at Clifford Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2014.

    A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, February 4, at 11 a.m.

    Burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery in East Wallingford, in the spring.
