    Exec dies in sled accident

ARLINGTON — Mack Molding’s director of business development, Larry Walck, died on Saturday after a sledding accident at Stratton Mountain.

In a press release, Jeff Somple, president of Mack Molding’s northern operations, called Walck, 45, a “wonderful friend and a tremendous co-worker to all of us at Mack.” Somple also offered condolences to Walck’s wife, Jennifer, and children, Christian and Justina.

“He was a driving force behind our growth over the years and will be sorely missed. … On a personal level, Larry was a close friend. On a business level, Mack has lost one of its best,” Somple said.

An avid hockey fan and player, Walck, who lived in New Jersey, was in Vermont during the weekend to participate in a men’s hockey tournament. He played regularly with a men’s league in New Jersey.

Walck also volunteered much of his time to youth sports, coaching baseball for the Delaware Valley Athletic Association and serving as a board member for the Delaware Valley Junior Lacrosse program. He was a member of the Alexandria Township Parks and Recreation Committee and the Knights of Columbus.

Walck, a graduate of Raritan Valley College in Somerset, N.J., joined Mack in 2000 as new business development manager and was promoted to director in 2006.

Walck’s funeral will be Friday in New Jersey.
