BALTIMORE, Vt. — Brahm E. Muther, 73, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at the Springfield Hospital in Springfield.
He was born Nov. 28, 1940, in Newton, Mass., the son of Donald and Florence (Briggs) Muther. He graduated from high school in Massachusetts. He later graduated from East Coast Aero-Tech.
He worked for many years as an automotive mechanic in Massachusetts, before moving to Baltimore in 1966, working as an automotive mechanic in Vermont for several years. He then worked as a machinist at the Fellows Gear Shaper, and later with the Bryant Grinder Co. in Springfield for more than 30 years. For the past 12 years, he was a shuttle bus driver for Okemo Mountain in Ludlow.
On April 21, 1978, he married Shirley Metcalf in Perkinsville.
He was active with the U.E. Union, where he also served as past president. He was a charter member of the Chapter A Vermont Gold Wing Road Riders Association.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of Baltimore; three sons, Donald Muther of Germany; Geoffrey Muther of Baltimore, Vt.; and Adam Muther of Unity, Maine; stepchildren, Sharon Knight of Springfield, Darlene Knight of Chester, Marcellus Knight of Chester, Richard Knight of North Springfield, and Shawn Knight of Springfield; a sister, Dale Allison of Hawaii; 17 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one uncle and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life service will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, where arrangements are being handled. A reception will follow at the North Springfield Baptist Church on Main Street in North Springfield.
