• Bennington select board tables panhandling ban

    BENNINGTON - The Select Board voted on Monday to table an ordinance that would ban panhandling. Member Thomas Jacobs said he wanted to hear from Bennington Police Chief about how the ordinance would be enforced.
    About a dozen people attended the meeting to speak for or against the ordinance. The ordinance would make panhandling a civil, but not a criminal, violation.
