ST. JOHNSBURY - A 23 year-old Vermont man is facing felony charges of extortion and aggravated assault, accused of attacking a teenager.

Leonard Batchelder of St. Johnsbury was arrested over the weekend.

Police said the teen was choked during an incident at his Pearl Street apartment when Batchelder and his girlfriend showed up Friday.

The Burlington Free Press reported that police said the teen was forced to surrender his Electronic Benefit Transfer card.

Batchelder was given a citation to appear Monday afternoon in Vermont Superior Court. It wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer.
