MIDDLEBURY — Omya will offer a tour of its Middlebury quarry from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The tour will offer a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on at an open-pit quarry, including a display of trucks, loaders and other quarry equipment.

A bus will shuttle visitors around the facility while a tour guide will discuss history, blasting, drilling and land reclamation.

Riders will also be able to disembark for an up-close look at geological formations and scout the area for a marble souvenir.

The event is free and open to the public. The quarry access road is located on the east side of Route 7, two miles south of Middlebury, or one mile north of the intersection of Route 7 and Route 125. The turn will be prominently marked the day of the event.
