• Norwich assistant professor wins award

    NORWICH An assistant professor at Norwich University is being given an annual award recognizing women early in their careers for their contributions to their students, colleagues or institutions.

    The Vermont Women in Higher Education will present the Peggy R. Williams Emerging Professional Award on Thursday to Elizabeth Gurian, an assistant professor in the school of Justice Studies and Sociology. Gurian was hired by Norwich University in 2011, and in addition to her teaching, has continued her research on female homicide offenders and serial murders.

    The award is named for a woman who served as president of Lyndon State College and Ithaca College in New York.
