OCALA, Fla. — Marian Stratton, 92, fomerly of Poultney, Vt., died Oct. 4, 2013.
She was born Jan. 1, 1921, in Middletown Springs, Vt., the daughter of Jesse and Helen McLaughlin.
She was employed at Marion Senior Services as a senior companion for 20 years and received many awards for her services.
She was also a member of the International Society of Poets, had published several poems and received numerous awards for her work.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan Sawyer, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Paul Stratton; son, David Stratton; and siblings, Thomas McLaughlin, Eleanor Ricard, Adalaid Gemmell and Isabelle Renfrew.
The celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Roberts Funeral Homes, 2739 SE Maricamp Road, Ocala.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Marion County or Marion Senior Services.
