MIDDLEBURY — Coleen Fitzsimmons Beck, 63, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at her home in Middlebury.
She was born June 14, 1950, in Rutland, the daughter of Robert and Patricia (Wallett) Fitzsimmons.
She was a graduate of Rice Memorial High School, class of 1968, and the University of Vermont in 1972.
She married William Beck in Middlebury in June of 1982.
She was a real estate agent and former co-owner of Bill Beck Real Estate. She was awarded the Coldwell Banker Diamond award in 2011.
She volunteered for many Middlebury organizations, including Porter Hospital Auxiliary Board, Hospice Volunteer Services Board, Addison County Chamber of Commerce and the Frog Hollow Craft Center. She was a former chairwoman of the Addison County Chamber of Commerce board of directors, and in 1999 was recognized by that organization as “Citizen of the Year.”
She enjoyed traveling, sailing, golfing, and skiing. She also enjoyed dogs and all animals.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Beck of Middlebury; a stepson, Billy Beck of Victor, Idaho; her siblings, Robert F. Fitzsimmons of East Montpelier, Mark P. Fitzsimmons of Alexandria, Va., and Lisa Quinlan of South Burlington; two step-grandchildren; an aunt and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 South Main St., Middlebury, with the Rev. Gary Lewis, pastor of the Vergennes Congregational Church, officiating.
Friends may call Friday, Oct. 4, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow in Middlebury Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Waybury Inn in East Middlebury at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Addison County Humane Society, 236 Boardman St., Middlebury, VT 05753; or to Porter Medical Center, Middlebury, VT 05753.
