OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. ó Elizabeth Lovell David died Sept. 29, 2013, at Middlesex Hospital with family by her side.
She was born July 21, 1950, in Beverly, Mass., to Dr. E. Sherburne Lovell and Marjorie Kohr Lovell.
Liz graduated from Springfield (Vt.) High School in 1968, and received a B.A. from Wellesley College in 1972.
In 1990, Liz married Henri M. David, Jr., and they made their home in Old Saybrook, Ct. Their lives were filled with many adventures together, including weekends on their boat, playing golf, skiing, travelling, enjoying family and friends, and being with their dogs.
Lizís career included several senior management positions within the financial sector. She was a Senior Vice President at Connecticut Bank and Trust and at Fleet Bank. She also was a Mortgage Banker at Sanborn Corporation, a Mortgage Originator at Advest Bank, a Regional Financial Specialist at Solomon Smith Barney, and, lastly, a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch.
Liz served on the boards of the Greater Hartford Easter Seals, the Hartford Ballet, and Kurn Hattin Homes in Westminster, Vt. Her love of horses and the therapeutic effect of riding brought her to be an advocate for and longtime board member of High Hopes.
Liz was an avid golfer and was a member of Black Hall Club in Old Lyme, Ct., and Ekwanok Country Club in Manchester, Vt. A memorable event amongst her golf experiences was being the first woman to play in the Hartford Pro-Am Tournament. Liz had first pick of the pro to play with and chose Fuzzy Zoeller. They won their flight by Lizís sinking a long putt.
Liz will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her quick humor, her clear and wise counsel, her interest in the lives of others, her hospitality and the comfort of her home, her love of family, particularly Kim and Miles, and her devotion to her dogs.
Liz is survived by her husband, Henri; a stepdaughter, Kimberly David Martin and her husband, Major Daniel Martin of Virginia Beach, Va.; and grandchildren Tyler and Maggie; a stepson, H. Miles David, III and his wife, Antena Leevers David, and grandchildren, Ella and Gately. She is also survived by her sister, Melissa Lovell Post and her husband, Irwin Post, of Chester, Vt., and by her beloved labs, Woodie and Lily.
