    GOP used to

    have principles

Jack Hoffman’s discussion Sunday of a People’s Budget and former Republican Governor Snelling’s courage and willingness to face up to the difficult politics of a similar situation was a message that all of us need to take to heart. If we are ever to restore any semblance of economic fairness and re-establish a viable and informed middle class, we need to get with it. When the Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted to lop 30 million people from food stamps, it’s time the press and all media outlets point out that two-thirds — yes, 20 million — were children. The GOP was once led in part by men of principle. No longer.
