BENNINGTON — Alfred “Al” Pinsonneault, 81, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at his residence, with cancer.
He was born Oct. 9, 1931, the son of Alfred and Alice (Brien) Pinsonneault.
He attended Bennington High School, class of 1949.
Mr. Pinsonneault was employed for 45 years at the A&P Supermarket in Bennington, retiring in 1995.
He retired in August after serving 50 years as treasurer of the Bennington Rescue Squad, who dedicated the building in his name in 2012. He also served as Eucharistic minister, helped at church suppers and breakfasts, and especially enjoyed doing the Thanksgiving baskets. He was a volunteer at the hospital and CLR.
Mr. Pinsonneault was an avid bowler, winning the Vermont State Singles Championship in 1961. He also enjoyed driving, traveling and cooking.
Survivors include two sisters, Jane and Rita Pinsonneault of Bennington, and many cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, George Pinsonneault.
The funeral will begin with a prayer at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, followed by the 10 a.m. Mass at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church.
Burial will take place in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the funeral home.
