    evacuates plaza

MORRISVILE — Police said a live hand grenade found outside a McDonald’s restaurant prompted the shopping plaza to be evacuated.

The Vermont State Police bomb squad made the grenade safe and removed it.

Police said Friday they don’t know where the explosive came from, WCAX-TV reported.

Police were called to the Morrisville Shopping Plaza at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday after receiving the report of the grenade.

Officers x-rayed the device and determined that it was real.
