arena seeks funds
WOODSTOCK — A sports complex that faces an uncertain future is seeking $125,000 to keep running.
The Woodstock Union Arena is owned by the local high school.
Vermont Public Radio reports the arena has been running in the red for years. The arena’s board of directors has proposed dipping into the $450,000 endowment.
But the endowment’s trustees and the School Board did not agree that was the best solution. They encouraged discussion about other possibilities.
The School Board’s new arena subcommittee will meet soon with the facility’s management to work on a solution.MORE IN This Just InRICHARD'S POOR ALMANACK: Workers on this day in 1984 in a Cheshire, England, peat bog find well-preserved human remains at least 2,000 years dead, born this day in 1843, Robert Todd Lincoln, eldest son of the president, present at three assassinations. 0Rutland Herald content editor Rich Alcott uploads data direct to your head: Workers on this day...
