GRANVILLE, N.Y. — Frank Robert Fiske Jr., 72, passed away August 14, 2013 following a long illness.

Frank was born March 7, 1941, in Rutland, Vermont. He was the son of the late Frank and Eleanor (Flanders) Fiske.

Frank Robert grew up on a dairy farm in Wallingford, Vermont. He graduated from Wallingford High School in 1959. He was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity at the University of Vermont, and graduated with a BS in Agricultural Economics in 1963.

Frank married Judith Rae Parker on July 1, 1967, in Granville, New York. They were married and lived on Parker Hill for 46 years.

Frank spent years as a Nursing Home Administrator and finished his career in Corrections.

Frank was a former member of the Granville Lions Club, and enjoyed his years of dedication to his children as their Little League coach.

Frank was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and gardening. He was prepared months in advance with a strategic game plan and anticipation for the big hunt. He also followed the Colts and Yankees closely.

Frank spent years of tradition traveling to Maine and Florida. In recent years he has traveled to Hawaii, the Caribbean, and two trips to Alaska. He also cherished hunting trips to Wisconsin.

Above all, Frank was humble, non-judgmental, easy going, and always a tender, caring and loving husband, father and grandfather. He never boasted of himself or his accomplishments. He never spoke ill of anyone and encouraged everyone to do what is best for him or her with loving support.

His quiet demeanor yet jovial enthusiasm for family and time together, while jousting and reminiscing, were times of celebration for everyone.

His loving grandchildren were his pride and joy. Fond memories were made counting their baskets, bouncing them on his knee, blowing bubbles, watching them swimming in his backyard pool, on-going squeezes and “good to see you” hugs.

Frank’s memory will be treasured by his wife of 46 years, Judith Parker Fiske, as well as his three children, Matthew Fiske and wife Carrie of Rotterdam, Nathan Fiske and his wife Hillary of Hartford, and Courtney Fiske-Stevens and husband Andrew of Queensbury.

Frank will be remembered by his five adoring grandchildren, Madison Fiske, Jacob Fiske, Nate Fiske, Audrey Fiske and Eleanor Stevens. He will be missed by his close family friend, Kenneth W. Schenk of Granville, and his faithful canine companion, Cheyanne.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Noon at the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, NY 12832. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at the Mettowee Cemetery in Granville, NY.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or to the Haynes House of Hope.
