Politics polluting federal courts
Chief Justice John Roberts has filled the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court with Republican appointees. The Republicans in the U.S. Senate are doing everything they can to stall confirmation on President Obama’s appointments to fill open federal court positions. It is obvious that the Republicans hope to pack the courts with justices who will rule in their favor on upcoming cases.
What ever happened to “blind justice”? The courts were designed to be neutral ground — separate from the politics of the executive and legislative branches of government.
The laws of the land, unless they are amended or repealed, are supposed to be applied and interpreted based on their original intent, not from a point of political bias.
