BENNINGTON — A Manchester resident was charged with a felony after a woman told police he took her cellphone.
Christopher J. Stevens, 21, of Manchester pleaded innocent Monday in Bennington criminal court to a felony count of larceny from a person.
Officer Christopher Mason of the Manchester Police Department said Taylor Kristiansen told him May 17 that Stevens had taken her cellphone earlier that day.
Kristiansen told police Stevens spit in her face and forced her to the ground before taking the phone.
Mason said Stevens admitted to taking the phone. Stevens told Mason he was concerned because Kristiansen had gone out and come back “all messed up on something” so he wanted to know with whom she had been talking, according to the court affidavit.
Stevens was released without bail Monday but ordered not to have contact with Kristiansen.MORE IN This Just InTOMORROW'S HEADLINES TODAY: Josh O'Gorman reports on the impact of state budget cuts on state colleges, Rutland Town welcomes Donna Zeller as town clerk, Bryanna Allen in Killington for chili cookoff and Haley talks up big Shrine game with N.H. and Vt. 0Rutland Herald News Editor Alan J.
