    Artwork is

    doing its job

Well, it worked again. For ages, art has generated controversy. And great art generally creates great controversy.

“Please put a stop to artistic litter” and “A back-handed form of tribute” in the July 12 issue of the Herald have fallen into the trap with their disparaging comments about the latest Chaffee Museum public art displays in Rutland. You can bet that even more people will pay attention to the art now — which is what all artists want.

Congratulations to Chaffee for keeping art alive in Rutland. Please, give us more art to critique — and more controversy.
