SOUTH BURLINGTON — Police say a 19-year-old man told officers that he was learning how to drive when a vehicle jumped a curb and went airborne in South Burlington.

Police say Manriel Grant of Burlington was behind the wheel when Honda CR-V traveled about 30 to 40 feet through the air before landing in a ditch early Saturday.

None of the five occupants were hurt.

The investigating officer said Grant, who doesn’t hold a license, reported that he was getting a driving lesson from friends in the Staples Plaza parking lot.

The vehicle was towed and he was given a citation. Grant couldn’t be reached Sunday.
