    Dorothy M. Conner

    BENNINGTON Dorothy M. Conner, 77, died Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Centers for Living & Rehabilitation in Bennington.

    Born in Berkeley County, W.Va., Sept. 28, 1935, she was the daughter of James Elmer Orr and Dora Belle Edwards.

    She attended Handley High School in Winchester, Va.

    In Winchester, she was employed at Rubbermaid Commercial Products for 15 years and spent a number of years as volunteer dispatcher and First Aid instructor for the Winchester Rescue Squad. She was a Red Cross blood donor since 1964.

    She was a member of Old First Church of Bennington, an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, sewing and crocheting. She was known as a creative cook and baker and especially, for her desserts.

    Survivors include two children, Anthony Conner of Bennington and Cynthia Rudy of Williamsburg, Va.; three grandchildren; a sister, Mary Jane Hess of Martinsburg, W.Va.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

    She was predeceased by three siblings, Howard, Herbert and Evelyn.

    The service to celebrate her life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Old First Church of Bennington.

    Memorial contributions may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter, Harvest House Soup Kitchen or Old First Church of Bennington, in care of Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
