    Emerson F. Bartholomew Jr.

    WHITEHALL, N.Y. — Emerson F. “Eppy” Bartholomew Jr., 90, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at his home.

    He was born May 29, 1923, in Whitehall, the son of Emerson F. Sr. and Minnie (Swinton) Bartholomew.

    He graduated from Whitehall High School, Class of 1940, where he lettered in football and basketball.

    He married Mary Millett on April 24, 1946. This past April, they celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.

    He was a retired dairy farmer and member of the Farm Bureau. He was a life member of B.P.O.E. Lodge #1491 of Whitehall and Mount Hope Phoenix Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons of Fort Ann, a longtime member of the Whitehall Central School Board of Education where he served many years as president, and a member of the Whitehall Rifle Club and Jack & Jills Square Dancing Club. He was also a trustee and former President/Vice President of the East Whitehall Brick Church Cemetery Association, and he also served the community as a Town Board member.

    Survivors include his wife, Mary Millett Bartholomew; his six children, Ann Keys of Whitehall, Jane Goff of Lake Placid, Kaye Aunchman of Glens Falls, Harriet Wyman of Brandon, Vt., Robert Bartholomew of New Zealand, and Paul Bartholomew of Whitehall; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his brother, Dr. Lloyd G. Bartholomew of Poultney, Vt., and his sister, Jane Graham of Hanover, N.H.

    A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the East Whitehall Methodist Church (Brick Church), with the Rev. Roberta Proper officiating.

    Friends may call Tuesday, June 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall.
