    Stafford offers summer programs

Middle school students will have no excuse to be bored this summer. The Stafford Technical Center is offering a variety of summer programs for students in grades six through nine.

Stafford’s arts and technology camp, slated to run June 24-28, is open to current sixth- and seventh-grade students in Rutland County. From cooking and metal working to law enforcement and forestry, students will try a little bit of everything. The camp also features a number of arts-based workshops, such as animation and music. The cost of the camp is $50 per student and includes lunch.

Students in eighth or ninth grades can also get involved by signing up for one of STC’s theme camps. Theme camps provide a full week of activities and field trips related to a specific Stafford program. This year’s offerings include digital photography, culinary arts, music performance, crime scene investigation and natural resources. These camps run July 8-12 and are $75 per student.

Stafford also offers a two-week summer construction camp devoted to teaching students about careers in the building trades. Construction camp is open to current seventh- and eighth-grade students and is $75 per student. The application deadline for all camps is May 31.
