BRANDON — Leonard Guilford “Lenny” Pearson, 70, died Friday, May 10, 2013, at his home.
He was born in Williston on July 11, 1942, the son of Anna (Shonio) and Thomas Pearson Sr., and received his education locally.
After working on several area farms in Williston and Middlesex, he entered the U.S. Army in 1962 and served in Europe.
Following his honorable discharge, Mr. Pearson was employed for several years at the Lobster Pot Restaurant in Montpelier. He later worked as a miller at White Pigment in Florence until 1978 and then as an inspector at General Electric, retiring in 2008.
He was a member of Brandon American Legion Post #55 where he served in various positions including sergeant-at-arms.
He enjoyed hunting, camping, gardening and taking care of his property.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Pearson of Brandon, whom he married Sept. 19, 1964, in Buffalo, N.Y.; four children, Julie Johnston of Gainesville, Fla., Tammy and Mike, both of Brandon, and Randy Pearson of North Clarendon; five siblings, Katherine Truman of Lebanon, N.H., Wayne of Ravena, N.Y., Thomas of Hickory, N.C., Theron of Rutland and Kenneth Pearson of Montpelier; six grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Pearson was predeceased by three siblings, Joan Milford, Leroy “Joe” and Clifton Pearson.
The funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Brandon Congregational Church with the Rev. Richard White, pastor, officiating, followed by private burial with military honors in Riverside Cemetery in New Haven and a reception from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Brandon American Legion Post #55.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
