    RUTLAND TOWN — Stephen Hugh Langill, 78, of Rutland Town and formerly Sherburne, died May 5, 2013, at Our House Outback. He was born November 3, 1934, in Stoneham, Mass., the son of Howard Walter and Hazel (Kelley) Langill.

    Mr. Langill was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and served from 1953-1961.

    He married Jane Dewey on August 2, 1958.

    A graduate of New England College, he received a B.S. degree in civil engineering.

    Mr. Langill was a civil engineer for the Vermont Agency of Transportation for years.

    He was a member and past deacon of the Ira Baptist Church and member of Gideons International.

    An active Sherburne resident, Steve was Sherburne town constable for five years and member and past president of the Sherburne Volunteer Fire Department.

    Survivors include his wife, Jane D. Langill of Rutland Town; two daughters, Martha Lee Langill and companion Brian Mauck of Palo Alto, Calif., and Heather Langill Dilly and husband Troy of Lowell, Mich.; two sons, Christian Howard Langill and wife Lee of Chicago, Ill., and Neal Stephen Langill and wife Jodi of Forreston, Ill.; grandchildren, Liam Mauck, Keaton, Cameron, Karis and Ellen Dilly, and Aaron, Lindy, Cassidy and Emily Langill; a niece and several nephews.

    He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Langill, and a granddaughter, Mallory Langill.

    Calling hours will be Thursday, May 9, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. in the Tossing Funeral Home.

    The funeral service will be held Friday, May 10, 2013, at 10 a.m. in the Ira Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eric May, pastor, officiating.

    Burial will be in Scottsville Cemetery in Danby.
