Talk about truth in advertising: A New York State woman is in jail on $75,000 bail after denying charges she was in possession of multiple bags of heroin labeled “Poison.”
Thursday, Danielle P. Allen, 26, of Whitehall, N.Y, pleaded innocent in Rutland criminal court to a felony charge of heroin possession, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison or a $1,000,000 fine.
According to an affidavit filed with the court by State Trooper Jason Johnson, Wednesday evening, Johnson stopped a 2004 Chevrolet Optra with New York registration at the Cumberland Farms on South Main Street.
Police had received a tip the occupants of the vehicle had driven out of state that day to buy heroin, and the driver- Justin M. Allen, 23- was the target of an ongoing investigation by the Narcotic Investigation Unit of the State Police, records state.
Prior to the traffic stop, police had probable cause to arrest Justin Allen for selling heroin, according to the affidavit.
Police first questioned the driver and then his passenger, Danielle Allen, who allegedly admitted she had heroin in her front pants pocket, police said. Danielle Allen handed over 74 bags of heroin stamped with the label “Poison”, according to the affidavit. The combine weight of the heroin was 2.4 grams, records state.
Danielle Allen is being held in South Burlington jail, according to the Department of Corrections. Police charged Justin Allen with selling heroin. He will be arraigned at a later date.
