    Many, many years ago my family lived in the house at 40 Pine St., shown on the front page of the Herald, May 2, as a “blighted property.” It was owned by Mrs. Rose Moore, who was a gentle, kind woman.

    I went to Longfellow School. While in the sixth grade, Ted Corsones and I were chosen to go to Rutland High School to answer questions for a children’s program. It was a very noisy gathering, and neither of us answered any of the questions.

    In my young eyes, it was a nice place to live. Such a long time ago.
