Ethan Allen plant
closes after a fire
ORLEANS ó About 400 employees at the Ethan Allen plant in Orleans had the day off Wednesday after a fire damaged two sawdust silos at the furniture manufacturer.
Orleans Assistant Fire Chief Scott Burdick said an issue with a motor that brings sawdust from the boiler room at the factory to the silos sparked the fire Tuesday night. Firefighters were at the scene through early Wednesday.
There were no reports of injuries.
The American Red Cross of the Vermont and New Hampshire Upper Valley Region provided food, beverages and other assistance to firefighters.MORE IN Vermont NewsMONTPELIER ó New management plans for a vast section of Vermontís remote Northeast Kingdom ó an... Full Story
