    Thanks for

    helping hungry

The 7th Annual Soup Bowls for Hunger Event, sponsored by Delta Kappa Gamma, was a rousing success, yielding $6,750 to be donated to the Community Cupboard, Brandon, BROC, Pittsford, Poultney and West Rutland food shelves.

The line formed early as people eagerly anticipated selecting a handcrafted bowl made by either a student potter from Rutland or Proctor high school, or from one of over 20 professional potters. Next was the difficult decision of which of the 10 delicious soups to choose. The over 300 community members who attended one of the three sittings were treated to Dan Graves’ piano playing as they chatted with friends and neighbors, helped themselves to a second bowl of soup or enjoyed the rolls and dessert prepared by students from Stafford Tech and Rutland High School.

Sincere thanks to all the DKG members who worked to make the event a success, to all the potters, especially Kylie Wolgamott, to the student groups from Stafford Tech and Rutland High School, and to all who donated to the event, including Cabot Creamery, Casella’s, Casey’s Caboose, Complete Ticket Solutions, Costantino’s, Credit Union of Vermont, East Creek Catering, GU Markets, Hannaford, David Hazen, Heritage Family Credit Union, Killington Avenue Deli & Market, Killington’s Best Restaurant Group, Killington Market on the Access Road, Mountain Top Inn & Resort, Panera Bread, Price Chopper, Roots, Rutland Regional Medical Center, Sodexo, Table 24, Thomas Dairy and Westminster Crackers.

It is an honor to be part of a community that cares so much for those less fortunate. Thank you, Rutland, for your support once again. See you next year.
