• Keep your cats indoors

    Millions of songbirds in North America have already been slaughtered by non-indigenous house cats. As I anticipate a third year in a row of standing by while they kill off yet another pair of bluebirds in my yard, it’s all I can do not to reach for my .22. As parents, we would never dream of opening the door to let our toddlers wander down the street. If you are a cat owner, consider the fact that in addition to their effect on bird populations, if your pets are allowed outdoors you are subjecting them to disease, predation or death by automobile.

    Please think about keeping your cats indoors.
