CLARENDON — An outpouring of support by community members has led to a fundraising effort to help a Clarendon family of six who lost their home in a fire Monday afternoon.

Jennifer Byrne and Karen Steever quickly started to gather their resources after learning that Linda Lebel Hampton, sister Deb, brother-in-law Stephen and their three children lost all their possessions in a house fire.

By Tuesday morning, they set up an post office box so that monetary donations and gifts cards could be sent to the family. They also opened up an account at Merchants Bank that will receive direct donations.

The pair also created a page on Facebook to provide a series of updates on how the family is doing as well as specifications on what they are hoping to collect.

For household goods, the family needs three twin beds and bedding, a bed for the parents, a couch, dinning table and chairs, dishes, glasses and other assorted household items.

For clothes they are looking for sizes 7/8 for girls, 10/12 for girls, 10/12 for boys, women size 12 for pants and large size for women and for men, 42 by 34 long pant, XL shirts and chef pants too.

The house – a trailer with a second-story attachment – burned to the ground Monday afternoon after a 6-way electrical plug caught on fire.

Donations can be sent to Lebel/White Family Fund, P.O. Box 24, North Clarendon, VT 05759. Small items and clothing can be dropped off between 6-7 p.m. tomorrow at Clarendon Elementary School Chair Banquet.
