PEGTV wants to increase its name recognition around the county. To do this the company has kicked off a new contest asking residents to film the funniest videos they can come up with and submit them this month.
Rutland County residents are invited to submit a 90-second video to the station’s “Show Us Funny” video contest in hopes of winning the grand prize of a new Vixia HD digital video recorder. The winner will be featured with other finalists in a live taping May 7.
“Anything goes, but (depending on the subject) PEGTV will make any final decisions if to show it online,” said Stacy Kent, marketing and outreach coordinator at PEGTV. Residents will be able to vote for their favorite videos and a three-person panelist will chose the final winner.
“It can be something they filmed 20 years ago as well as something they went out and produced,” Kent said. “They just have to be 90 seconds or less.”
Kent said PEGTV created an events committee this year charged with getting their name “out there” more by sponsoring events and holding contests.
“It’s name recognition,” she said. “We want to let the public know that this is for them.”
For the contest, Kent said they were inspired by “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”
Residents have until April 30 to submit videos to PEGTV through the company’s website or by mailing a DVD or tape. Once all submissions are received, the videos will be compiled into a 30-minute show that will air on Channel 15 in early May.
Voting will take place throughout the month of April before the finalists are chosen. Finalists will be selected in early May.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Kent said.
