Kiefer-Cioffi for Select Board
for Select Board
I first met Chris Kiefer-Cioffi when she was working for the Rutland City Police Department. It was a pleasure to see a strong, intelligent woman succeeding in what many consider a “man’s job.” She performed her job so well that she was promoted to detective.
Now that we are neighbors, I have gotten to know Chris better. She is running for a seat on the Rutland Town Select Board. I think she will do a great job serving the citizens of Rutland Town. Because she has been a fireman, paramedic, police officer and detective, she certainly has much experience in public service. As a crime scene investigator, she must have problem-solving skills, negotiating skills and, of course, social skills.
In listening to her announcement on PEG-TV, I believe she is running for selectperson because she loves Rutland Town and its unique features. She wants to keep the town moving forward and has not complained about past decisions. Chris has no agenda, platform or ax to grind. She is a good listener with fresh, new ideas. Having been a public servant for so many years, she has to be a very patient person. She is obviously fiscally responsible because she won’t waste money on lawn signs or other campaign material.
In my opinion, Rutland Town needs a fresh, new face on the Select Board. Chris Kiefer-Cioffi is that fresh, new face. The chance to have another woman on the board sweetens the pot. In the words of a former mayor of Rutland City, “A new broom sweeps clean.”
Chris Kiefer-Cioffi has my vote. I hope my fellow residents of Rutland Town feel the same.
