BURLINGTON — Burlington police are searching for a suspect who fired a handgun into a cemetery in the Vermont city.

Police received the report of a shot fired in the Elmwood Avenue Cemetery at 11:32 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators say they have been unable to determine what, if anything, the suspect was shooting at. There’s no indication the suspect was targeting an individual or a specific building.

The suspect was last seen heading west on North Street.

The suspect is described as a middle-aged white male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall who weighed between 180 and 190 pounds. He was wearing a large thigh-length navy blue coat.
