    ROCHESTER — Fayette “Fay” A. Hill, 90, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Rutland Healthcare in Rutland.

    He was born June 4, 1922, in Rochester, the son of Albert and Marjory (Keezer) Hill.

    He attended Rochester schools, and graduated from Rochester High School in 1940.

    He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

    He married Vivian Kidder while still in the service. She died in 2001. He later married Olive (Bowen) Johnson in 2002 in Rochester.

    In earlier years, he worked at Hubbard’s Store in Rochester. He later worked for Vermont Marble Co. at their quarry in Rochester for 20 years, before working as a carpenter for Hawk Mountain, also in Rochester, until his retirement.

    He enjoyed playing horseshoes, cribbage, the harmonica and pool. He also enjoyed hunting, ice skating and swimming. He had served as a volunteer fireman for the Rochester Fire Dept.

    Survivors include his wife, Olive Hill of Rochester; three daughters, Marcia Hill of Macon, Ga., Gay Deluca of Wilmington, N.C., and Paula Boshart of Hyde Park, N.Y.; a son, Lynn Hill of Proctor; eight grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.

    In addition to his first wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Richard Hill, and a sister, Alberta Aldrich.

    Graveside memorial services will be held in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Rochester, at a date and time to be announced. There are no calling hours.

    Arrangements are under the direction of the Day Funeral Home, Randolph.
