I was saddened to learn of the passing of Leigh Wright, a lifetime resident of Randolph.

Randolph especially, and the world community, has lost a valued citizen. Leigh, an author, historian and environmentalist, traveled and taught widely in places far-flung from Randolph — Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, Africa — yet he also wrote of Randolph’s history (“Potash and Pine — The Formative Years in Randolph History” and “Golden Years — Randolph, 1850-1970”).

Leigh was a man of integrity and principle; I shall always cherish his friendship, counsel and erudition.

    WILLIAM KEVAN
