Cuts needed instead of taxes
Kudos to Mr. Seiple on his Jan. 21 editorial. I couldn’t agree with him more. Every time I open the Rutland Herald, there is an article on a new proposed tax from Montpelier. Mileage tax, soda tax, gas tax, heating oil tax, there seems to be no end to it in Vermont. Instead of finding more new taxes, why doesn’t Montpelier find some ways to cut spending? I have lived in Vermont all my life, and the cost of staying in Vermont is really getting outrageous. I am sure Montpelier could find some places to cut spending if they really tried (probably without trying too hard), instead of just coming up with more new taxes. Its time to make some tough decisions. Enough is enough.
