Vt. law school reduces workforce
SOUTH ROYALTON ó The Vermont Law School has reduced its workforce by 12 people, laying off two and buying out 10 other workers.
Law school spokeswoman Carol Westberg said none of the workers were faculty members.
Westberg said the buyouts were offered to staff in November, with a deadline of Jan. 3 to accept or decline.
The 10 who took buyouts from the South Royalton school have negotiated with the school when they will leave. The two laid-off workers have already left.
President Marc Mihaly told the Valley News those who took the buyouts received severance packages based on the length of time they had worked at the school.
The downsizing was needed because the school has received fewer applications from potential students over the past three years.
