Special thanks are in order to the Rutland County Democratic Committee for their outstanding work organizing and planning for the meeting to select three nominees to replace Sen. Bill Carris.

Because there was not much precedent on how to structure such a meeting, it could have been confusing, but RCDC chairwoman Kathy Hall and fellow organizers put together an agenda that enabled the process to run smoothly and without a hitch.

On a very cold Wednesday night almost every delegate was in attendance, a tribute to Bill Carris and all he has done for our community.

The names of the three nominees (Eldred French, Cheryl Hooker, and Bob Baird) will be forwarded to Gov. Shumlin for his consideration.

Thank you all, organizers, delegates, and nominees, for your service to the community.

    SHERMAN HUNTER
