    Kenneth Braman Walker, 81, of Rutland and a former longtime resident of Benson, died Sunday morning, January 6, 2013, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center, following a long illness.

    He was born on April 26, 1931, the son of Merrill and Adeline (Adams) Walker.

    Mr. Walker graduated from the Fair Haven High School in 1949.

    He married Priscilla (Taylor) Walker on August 16, 1959.

    Mr. Walker was a longtime dairy farmer operating the Greenback Farm in Benson with his brother, James. He loved to be outside doing farm work. Following his retirement in 1997, he enjoyed spending his time with his grandchildren. He relocated to Rutland in 2004.

    He was a member of the Hydeville Baptist Church and had been an active member of the Fair Haven Baptist Church where he had served as a trustee and deacon.

    Mr. Walker was a former member of the Benson Fire Department and serviced the town of Benson as a lister for several years. He served on several committees with the UVM Extension Service.

    Survivors include daughters Beth Allen and her husband Scott of Lewiston, ME, Kendra Hollister and her husband John of Whitehall, NY, Karen Ruby and her husband Kyle of Fair Haven; a son, Kevin Walker and his wife Sue of Blowing Rock, NC; eight grandsons, Joshua Spaulding and his fiancée Beverly Lloyd, Caleb Allen, Jacob Walker, Michael Walker, John Hollister Jr., Zachary Hollister, James Ruby and Carl Ruby; a sister, Meraline Chandler of FL; two brothers, James B. Walker of Florida and Richard Walker of New York; several nieces and nephews.

    He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Edith Walker; and two brothers, Robert Walker and Raymond Walker.

    There will be no public calling hours.

    A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Benson. Burial will be at a later date in the Fair View Cemetery in Benson.

    Arrangements are by the Aldous Funeral Home.
