    Power restoration

    continuing in Vt.

COLCHESTER — Nearly 1,800 Vermont homes and business remained without power Sunday as utility crews continued restoring electricity following a wind storm that knocked out power to tens of thousands of electric customers.

Green Mountain Power indicated that 1,797 customers were without power Sunday afternoon. That’s down from a high of almost 32,000 electric customers on Friday. Saturday evening, it was just over 4,000.

Green Mountain said the vast majority of customers should have the lights back on Sunday night.

The utility said out-of-state crews have arrived to supplement its own crews, with work focused on the Poultney and Middlebury areas where much of the repair work remains.
